Vaccine State Action Center

Arizona
The Arizona legislature is considering bills, HB 2162 and HB 2505, that would eliminate the personal belief exemption to vaccines required for school (HB 2505 replaces it with a religious exemption).

Hawaii 
The Hawaii legislature is considering a bill, HB 1182, that would add a conscientious belief exemption to vaccines required for school.

Iowa
The Iowa legislature is considering a bill, HF 206, that would eliminate the religious belief exemption to vaccines required for school.

Maine

The Maine legislature is considering a bill, LD 798, that would eliminate the religious belief and philosophical exemptions to vaccines required for school.

Mississippi

Two bills have been introduced in the Mississippi legislature, SB 2398 and SB 2255, that would add a religious belief exemption and a philosophical and religious exemption, respectively, to vaccination in the state.

New York 

The New York legislature is considering a set of bills that undermine freedom of choice: S 298 (mandates HPV vaccine); A099 (allows forced vaccination under some circumstances); A1135 (restricts religious exemption); A2316 (mandates flu vaccine for daycare); A2371 (eliminates religious belief exemption); A973 (allows HPV and Hep B vaccine without parental consent); S2276 (mandates flu vaccine for school and daycare); S2289 (restricts religious exemption); S2994 (eliminates religious belief exemption).

Oregon

A bill before the Oregon legislature, HB 2783, would require a health care practitioner’s signature for all exemptions to vaccination, thus making it more difficult to obtain an exemption for children. Another bill, SB 565, establishes that it is unlawful for an employer to mandate vaccines for healthcare employees.

Rhode Island 

The Rhode Island legislature is considering a bill, H 5165, that would add a personal and philosophical exemption to vaccines required for school.

Washington

The Washington legislature is considering two bills, HB 1638 and SB 5841, that would eliminate the personal belief and philosophical exemptions for the MMR vaccine and all mandated vaccines, respectively.

West Virginia

A bill has been introduced in the West Virginia legislature, SB 454, that would add a religious and conscientious belief exemption to vaccination in the state.
